In an old family photo album is a black-and-white shot of your photographer at age 1, toddling off naked into the woods. The caption is "Nature Boy." I've always appreciated that my parents let me do that (and I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to get rid of me).
Now I live in Colorado and I still revel in the outdoors (clothed of course, with a few exceptions). Long before I moved here, though, a camera has been like a part of my hand. It's been a wonderful way to express my sense of art, fun, and wonder. To bring this passion to the American West, where the very air seems made for me, I see as a gift to me, to be passed on to you.
Not all the images are of the mountains—There are pages for some notable world travels, family celebrations, and sporting events. Explore and enjoy!
More about me:
I'm a professional technical writer, illustrator, and photographer. My company is Jim Groh Technical Communication.
For activity, I do a little of everything and, because life is short, not enough of anything: Hiking, backpacking, peak climbing, rock climbing, cross-country skiing, and bicycling. All at a moderate and satisfying level.
The same applies to my less active hobbies: Backroad touring, photography, history, geology, music, audio, speaker design, renewable energy, and sustainable building.
I'm a mountaineer, mountaineering safety instructor, and trip leader. I've been involved with the Colorado Mountain Club in this capacity for 20 years. For this group I've also published brochures, maps, and books.
I'm the author of "The Best Boulder Hikes"
(ISBN 978-0-9799663-4-7)
